Rear caliper threads stripped

I was installing some defective Speed Bleeder valves on my rear calipers and ended-up stripping the threads out of one (valve kept leaking and I kept tightening ). Any fixes for this (like heli-coil) or am I stuck with getting new calipers? Anyone know the part numbers for the rear calipers?

Thanks for the input.

Sorry about your misfortune. I don't know too much about the brakes but someone else posted this cool site that has part info that you're intersted in.

I don't know if a helicoil is recommended for that application, but I certainly wouldn't trust it. Technically if you can get the bleed valve to bottom out in the caliper fitting you'd be ok, but bleeding would be a nightmare unless the helicoil was a perfect fit.

I would think a replacement caliper is the best solution.

I wouldn't try a helicoil, unless they are rated for hydraulic pressure. If they can't hold under pressure, could put you in a very bad situation. you are definitely better off getting new calipers

You could have a machine shop tap it out for a larger size bleader, but there would have to be a plan to keep metal shavings out of the piston area.

That depends on what size the bleedscrew currently is. There aren't too many thread sizes available for bleedscrews. Another concern would be fouling the seating surface.

Have you thought about checking out any salvage yards for used calipers?

Used caliper would be great but I'm in Hawaii and we are limited when it comes to salvage yards. I got a quote from Classic for $176 so I'll probably end-up ordering from them.
