3 choices..which would you choose?
Sorry, I've been making this much more difficult than it is . I am a new MCS owner and have studied up on the tires as much as my eyes allow me and I am burned out now. I'm just looking for some feedback on your opinions on which you would choose. Number 1, 2, or 3.
1. Yokohama AVS ES100 - 205-45-17
2. Fuzion ZRI - 205-40-17
3. BFG G-Force T/A KDW 2 - 205-45-17
I plan on using it for recreational driving with about 4-6 track days a year.
Thanks!

I have the Yokos and can say they are fabulous the compound softens the ride nicely and gives great grip especially in the twisties. However Yokos do fall short on tread life and are not great when it gets wet out which is very important characteristic. However the Yoko's are very reasonably priced so having to replace them after about 10 to 12 thousand miles is not that painful and cheap enough to have a second pair of rubber for the "non rainy" season wherever you might live.
Before choosing you do need to set a criteria list of characteristics which need to include not just how you are going to use them but how much tread life you are expecting, and how much price plays into your decision making. There are a lot of opinions and everyone on NAM has their favorites so asking the question can wind up getting you more confused than before you started off.

i've only had the yoko's and i'm on my third set. i reall like the tire. very aggresive driving and track use. i've gone to R-compounds for the track now so the yoko's should last longer. pretty cheap tire but as stated before, they only last 12-15 thousand miles. that's not a bad thing. that's what tires are for, to get used up giving good grip. if your driving a mini i don't think your trying to get 40 grand out of them.

Thanks guys! Keep the feedback coming. I have read good things about the BFG's except that they are noisy. Can anyone confirm just how noisy or annoying the tire noise is? I don't mind some noise but too noisy I would like to avoid. I think I would prefer a 45 instead of a 40 tire because in arizona we have a ton of contruction that many times can't be avoided. And sometimes the roads aren't the greatest so I'm thinking that the 45 would save my wheels a bit. Am I giving up anything by going with a 45 instead of a 40?

ES100's are great and inexpensive performance tires: an all-around good tire. I've been through several sets of them and will continue to buy them.
I'd suggest getting one of the wider 215 sizes. Get the 215/40/17 if you want a little quicker accelleration and can live with a bit stiffer ride. Get the 215/45/17 for a bit softer ride and a little higher top speed in each gear.
I like the 215/45/17 myself. . . .

I just put the BFG T/A KDW's on this weekend so I can't really respond to the stickiness yet. But they're not overly loud, not really louder (if any) than the stock Dunlop runflats they replaced. And to sound like a broken record about switching to non-runflats... they feel so much nicer than the runflats over small seams and imperfections on the road.

I love my BFGs. The grip is great. Treadlife isn't too bad. I've got 4 track days and several autocrosses and alot of street mileage, They should last me the rest of the year.
As for noise, I think they've gotten a bit noisier from wear, but with my intake and exhaust, I can't say that I've really noticed it.

SpecII's from my experience, but the SpecII's had better straightline
stability.
In the wet, the ES100's were superior over the SpecII's.
In cooler temps, the SpecII's grip better.
When you add up all its pro's and con's they average about the same.
What I would use as my deciding factor is how much offset you are
using on your wheels. If you have aggressive offset I would go with
the SpecII's. If you have conservative offset and want the wide-tire
look, the ES100 would be a better choice.
