the abs and big brake kits

i'm very curious, in a technical point, that all the brakes systems in the mini (the abs, corner brake control, front brake distribution or even the stability control) gets affected by bigger brake kits order do they learn to compensate for the increased bite?

Nothing to 'learn' AFAIK. The reaction time for the systems are in the multi-millisecond range, so more bite shouldn't affect them. The systems are all essentially based on wheel rotation rates.

The ABS sensors monitor rotation. So long as the wheel is turning the ABS is off. Only when they stop do they go into 'mode'. The system has no idea who's brand brakes are causing this.

EBD and other systems which may rely on pressure sensors for input may have some issues. This is part of where a properly designed bbk is important as line pressures should be matched for much the same reasons. So far I know of NO bad experiences with ANY of the aftermarket kits out there in this regard so I can't offer much more.

the biggest thing that will affect your ABS is the rolling radius of your wheel. If you change that, not only will your speedo be affected but so will your ABS. also if you change the fluid displacement too much with your new brakes, that may affect the ABS's effectiveness, because it is calculated with a specific volume dump chamber and rate.

Hmm. That's an interesting point and good to know. All the more reason for a properly designed kit.
