ceramic disc brakes

does anyone know if these are offered for the mini yet ? Saw them on the show TopGear lastnight on Discovery Channel on the McClaren Mercedes SLR.

Are they astronomical, not approved by safety regs, or what ? Seems like the weight and performance is much better ?

Don't know as much about cars as many of you brainiacs.... please enlighten me !

Call a Porsche dealer. See what the price is. You'd probably be half way to another car!

Ceramic discs, carbon diss, use carbon pads. All very costly items. In low production. That's why they were on the Mclaren...

Peter at M7 had a whole ceramic and titanium setup for the Mini. They were unreal. But the price is very hefty. I want to say something like $3,000 for the setup.

I have ceramic pads on the front. Very nice.. low brake dust, which is good for white wheels. I got mine through www.webbmotorsports.com

They are Hawk Ceramics pads and retail for about $110.00

I just checked Porshce's web site. They list carbon-fiber/ceramic brakes for $8300. Pretty sure slightly better than the Hawk Ceramics pads that retail for about $110.00

Those brakes looked pretty cool on that Mercedes glowing as they applied them on Top Gear.... 120mph to 0 in less than 240 feet. The car also has that aerodynamic brake almost like an airplane... pretty crazy stuff. Probably cheaper to add the aerodynamic brake to the MINI though.

The poster was talking about ceramic discs. Not just the pads. I also think that M7's setup saved 40lbs over the stock setup.
