Hey folks, understand your like or dislike, but most 18's I've heard of are PIGS weight wise. These are the first MINI specific 18's I've seen that look light. I'd like to confirm this notion though.
Aside from rolling on bigger wheels (for the sake of larger wheels) going 18" offers several rubber options not available in 17" or smaller. Plus there's no issue with a BBK.
I want to keep sprung weight under control and decent looks. Horseshoe or not the new JCW appear to fit the bill. If weight weren't a concern a set of Hartge classics would be my choice.
EDIT: or if $ were no object:

And a polite reminder.... if you're going to post photos from other sites (especially when you don't move them to another server) it best that you give that site credit. Sorry, don't mean to sound like an *ss...

Generally it's best to save the pic and put it on your server or post it in a forum's gallery area. However if you can't do either just a simple shout-out to the site where it came from is more than enough for most people.
Okay... back on topic. How about those JCW wheel eh? I like them quite a lot but still prefer my 18" Spider Spokes!

I am fond of the 5 and 7 spoke wheels myself... Just always that weight issue. Have an all black MCS too Can't recall, what do your JCW's weigh in at? BTW silver wheels on an all black MCS are to drool!

Fascination
What is the fascination with bigger and bigger wheels?
Bling?
I know its not performance, at least from what others have written and I'm sure they know more than me about that.
If its bling, thats OK because everyone has different tastes...
But if ain't bling, then what is it?

Then there's the look of the wheel wells being filled out fully.

The biggest reasons for smaller wheels are typically cheaper tires and then the lighter weight (although if you're worried about weight there are plenty of larger aftermarket wheels do well on the scales). The downsides are big brake kits don't typically fit behind anything but 17s or 18s and with a larger side-wall of a smaller wheel you inevitably lose feel.
The optimal track solution I could see taking this all into account would be some light-weight 17s. But of course alot of this comes down to personal preference and cost
