Runflat tire integrity?
Hey everyone, long time no post here on NAM...i have a question. The other day i was driving hard round some country roads and i snagged a screw in my tire, but i didnt know it. The tire ran flat overnight and stayed that way until morning when i had it fixed by a local garage. so i have 2 questions...1, did being on a flat overnight weaken the structural integrity of the runflat thing ni the tire, and 2, can fixing a runflat like a conventional tire work? Do i need a new tire for these new reasons? thanks
Marco
P.S., The tire im running is a Pirelli Euphori@, 205-45-r17

Not in my experience. (I'm still running the factory Dunlop SP5000.)
I actually picked up 1/2 a pair of needle-nose pliers in my run-flats. I pulled them out and left a hole that you could put your finger through. Not only did I have to leave it that way over the weekend but I then drove it the 25 miles back to my local garage that plugged it for me.
That was 4,000 miles ago and they still work like a champ. I know that almost everyone on this forum HATES run-flats, but they have saved my butt so many times that I can't imagine going with out.
In my experience, you should be fine...

My girlfriend had the warning light come on while driving home from work. She had driven maybe 25 miles when she told me about it. I stopped at a gas station and found zero air pressure in a rear tire and found a screw in the middle of the tread. I filled it up and determined that it was a slow leak so we drove a few miles further and parked the car. The next day we had the tire plugged from the inside by a tire shop and it lasted another 5,000 miles before it was worn out and replaced. It wasn't obvious from looking that the tire was flat and she didn't notice a change in handling. This was with the Pirellis.
