ASA JH6 (panasport style) Rims - Pics & write up
We have a set of 16 x 7 ASA JH6 rims in the silver finish ordered from tirerack. As always, tire rack was great to deal with, rims were at my work with in a few days of ordering.

Price: $169 each
Recommended Tire Size: 195/55-16
Wheel Offset: +42mm
** Lightweight: 18.0 lbs. **

We ordered the JH6 because my wife loved the look of the S-Lites, I did not care for the weight of them. While I don't think that 18 LBS counts as a lightweight rim, It's much better than the S-lites. We ordered out car with the 16" X-lites and had these rims mounted at the dealership before delivery. We had the stock run flats put on the ASAs.
We both like the classic minilite/panasport look of these rims. There seem to be a lot of these classic style rims popping up, such as R-Speeds chaparral, the Konig Rewind, etc. The hard thing about all of these is the offset needed for todays cars doesn't leave much space for that great deep lip of the original rims. For me, the JH6 is one of the best looking ones out there.
For the center caps, ASA supplies a regular ASA branded cap, as well as a center cap with a hole in it to accept the pop in MINI center caps from the 17" S-lites. My dealer sourced the caps for me, and was about as happy as i was about the fit & finish. ASA *clearly* had the MINI in mind when they designed this wheel.
Overall, the rims are quite nice, the paint seems well done & consistent across the rim. They have a nice finish and I am pleased with them. My wife loves them, and that is really the most important part. I think my 06 will need a set of the AR1s when the time comes....

FWIW - I just mounted 205/40 Toyo RA1s on a set of 17" ASA JH6s. They weighed in at 36# per corner. The "Bright Silver" finish is very bright, almost looks like chrome from ten feet away. I'll refinish them with the factory paint when their track days are over. Too much bling for me...
Cheers,

I really like those wheels. The classic look of a Panasport at a reasonable cost. I had no idea that runflats could be put on other rims, I assumed that they had to be a special runflat rim. Buying new tires for a new car that comes with new tires just doesn't sit well with me. Even though runflats aren't too hot in my book. Maybe I'll buy a set of those wheels for the runflats though.

I Love These Wheels!!!!
I've been thinking about these wheels for a while (Click Here).
Do you have any shots of your whole MINI with the wheels? I'm still trying to decide between 16 and 17s.
Morefun, not to be too picky, but do you have a cleaner shot of your 17's? I'd like to get a better feel for the look. Thanks

Beautiful wheels. They look like Panasports but just a bit different. Interesting and, of course, the tie-in with Mini heritage is meaningful. I remember having a set of Minilite mags on my Mini and it did not occur to me to look up that company when I was looking for replacement wheels for my MINI. The ASAs look great and the photos are very sharp.
PS: I did not know Miatas had been turbo-charged. Bet that's fun.

17"x 7" is suited for the new Mini and the UK factory has all the specs needed. Price is $356 each and includes wheel lugs, center caps and chrome valve stems. Lead time about 6 weeks.
They also offer a 16"x 7" in both the EV2000 and the JP style. Color silver and price $356 each.

I was also thinking about these wheel with a new set of tires.
Also, I see that if I buy the 16" version of the wheel, I will be stuck with trying to find a tire in the weird 195/55/16" size. If I get the 17" wheel, a larger selection of tires will be available, like the excellent Kumho ECSTA SPT for under $100.
Any Thoughts on ride quality difference between the 16" and 17" rims, I am going for more of a touring quality?
