Brake Grind???
Hello, Newbie here needing a second opinion. Got my new mini the other day (currently 90 miles), was driving down the steet and got cut off by a delivery truck driver who was not paying attention when he turned. I was able to brake in time but as I was proceding to move forward, I had this horrible grinding sound coming from the right rear of my mini - a sound loud and similar enough to a small anchor being dragged. I pulled over, looked around and under, did not see anything visibly wrong (nothing stuck under the car or tire). I drove on and never heard the sound again.
Called dealer service and here was his explanation: mini coats the break pads with some kind of anti-corrosion compound which, during panic braking at low mileage, can cause the brakes to stick. Sounds like a ligitimate reason. Despite this explanation, I wanted to check with you all if anyone had experienced something similar or if anyone has a different hypothesis. I tell you, that sound was very unsettling. Otherwise, I love my mini and still believe it's the best car I've ever driven.
