For street and occasional autocross, which would be better hi performance tire? Price is comparable. I don't mind the falken being a little smaller diameter.

I have falken RT615s in 215/40/17 and I don't like it that much.

They are grippy but still heat up fast(not sure how bad the RT215s were..), and they are loud on the street.. wear is pretty bad also.
Maybe I'm just spoiled with Advan Neova AD07s I got through gray market..

I too have the RT615 in 215/40/17 size. I thought they were rough and noisy at first, but they seemed to have "bedded in" or whatever the tire equivalent is. Either that, or I've adapted to the noise...

I took them to a track day on a very tight circuit here in Albuquerque and they were very sticky. They didn't seem to have heating problems and the wear was acceptable for a tire with a wear rating of 200! If I get 20k out of them I'll be really happy. They sure add to the MCS smile I've had since purchasing the car 4 months ago.

cheers,
philip

I'll put it this way.. It's hard to beat the RT-615 for autox,
but there are certainly better street tires out there.

I've got the Falkens in 205/40-16 mounted on R84's as my summer tire— they are fun! I've tracked them once and autoxed half a dozen times; they've always been good to me! The 205/40-16 size lowers the car about an inch—so, beware if your car is already lowered.

Proxes T1R's are another good choice I have been happy with in 215/40/16. Just did a track day and only the front left showed signs of abuse. But that is normal at Road Atlanta.

the Hankook RS2 Z212s I want are back-ordered (205/45 16). I chose them becasue the Azenis 615s dont (yet?) come in 205/45 16. ALso, I've heard they are better in the rain....

I have the Hankooks on my S2000, outside of R compounds and the stock S02's these are some of the best tires I've had for it.

Excellent in the rain, grip is nearly as good as the S02's on the street but the rain and track performance is pretty great.
