Questions about 15" for an MINI S

I have a set rota circuit 8's 15 x 6.5. Tires are 195/50/15 toyo t1-s fitted on my MCS... My questions is... will the tires be too narrow?? Do I need 205? or even 215?? It will mostly for street use and might be some autox .. any info would be great... thx..

#edit.. also I have lowering springs on the car..

Those are REALLY short sidewalls.

I've autocrossed on my 195/55/15 Yokohama AVS ES100's a few times, and they really don't have enough grip... But then, I normally autocross on 215/40/16 Kumho V710's, so I'm used to fairly sticky tires.

The Toyo's should be a little bit grippier than my Yoko's, but I think you'll pretty quickly find that you'll want something stickier and wider.

However, if you're new to autocross, just run 'em until they're gone. They're fine to learn on.

195/50 is short in load and diameter

225/45 works well for Auto X applications and has load!

Alex, what would you recommend for an offset on the 225? I tried that on my et41 325iX wheels and it was VERY close to the strut on the inside - These were Yoko ES100 so I'm not sure if they tend to be wider than others. I'm not sure what is too close, so seeking some guidance here ..

I've got 205/50 SO3s on there now and although a little lower than stock it's nice

225's will fit fine on 6.5" wide wheels, but I'm not sure about whether or not they'll rub.

However, I'd say that if you're interested in autocross, I don't know of any truly good-for-autocross 225/?/15 street tires? I'd just go with the Falken Azenis is 205/50/15. It might not be 225 wide, but the sticky compound will make up for the narrower tread width.

If you're going to go with a dedicated autocross tire, there are a couple more 15 inch options.

A 225 tire is not suitable for a 6.5" rim. The tire will be 2-1/2" wider than the rim, which is recipe for rolling off the rim in a hard turn.

The tire should be no more than 35-50mm wider than the rim at the outside.
