Black steelies with MINI center caps

This look is sure to offend some and appeal to others, but I ordered MINI center caps from the dealer to go with my black painted steelies w/Blizzaks from Tire Rack.

Personally, I dig it...but I'm a '70s and '80s BMW fan, when this look was more common. With the driving lights, I think it's a neat and different look. In case you care, P/N for the caps is 36 13 6 767 398. You need four of that number, which cost me about $40.

I like the look. I have black steel wheels for the winter as well and have been looking for a center cap of some kind. How did you attach the caps?

That's my set-up too

I have to get a pic of it this winter.. I think it's the coolest option for the winter!

I happened to be in my dealer one day, and they had 1 on the winter wheel display, and I knew that was the way to go

Funny you should ask. I was ready to be truly pissed off when I first got home with the caps as they didn't seem to fit! There was no way to secure them to the wheel. Then when I mounted the steelies, it became obvious that the lug bolts hold the caps on...there's just enough lip on the bolt to secure the edges of the cap. It doesn't interfere at all with proper installation and torquing of the lug bolts.

36 13 6 767 398, you need four. Should be around $40. They come with the MINI decals already attached.

Thank you! I don't mind the look of the black steelies without the center cap, but yours looks so good, how could one not splurge and get them?

Cool! I'm not a fan of '70s/'80s BMWs, but I AM a fan of this look:

Maybe change to wheel studs and then find a set of chromed acorn lug nuts.

Could those center caps fit on aftermarket wheels too? Or just steelies?

Well, they certainly don't make it easy to find, and they don't have a picture of the exact wheels, but here's the page:

Thanks Scott. But I think that link may be a saved search because it comes up with timed out message about the session being over. I'm really used to doing searches but these are buried! Do they have a brand name? Maybe I can search that way.

Crap - sorry about that. The link still works for me, but I guess it must be because my cookie is still saved at the Tirerack site. They don't list the brand for the wheel, but from the main page, click on the blue "products" tab, select "winter", and then click on the "shop by vehicle" entry in the pop-down menu.

Then, enter the details for your MINI, select '15" packages", and then click on the "Don't need tires? - skip to wheels" link. That will bring you to the page that lists the $44 steel wheel for the MINI.

Ah OK, got it. So I go through all that and it says no steel is available for my car! Oh well.
In the meantime I did find them locally at Discount Tire:
http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...-100&tc=UNIQ83

But they don't have Blizzaks so looks like I mix and match between places.

Out of curiosity, what do these wheels weigh?

I can't seem to find anything about weight.
But here's an updated link for the center cap:
