Where to Buy Hubcentric Rings?

I'm desperate for a set of 56.1 x 70 mm metal hubcentric rings. Tried the usual sources (Rspeed, Turner, 1010, Tirerack, Philo, Edge) with no luck. Anybody know a source? Hurry, Mini going bump bump bump down the road. May as well be driving a Buick

Well, it goes like this. Ordered 4 Nokian RS1's from Tire Factory on universal steel wheels. So, I don't know the brand or if there is a mfgr capable of servicing the product. I spoke with the salesman at Tire Factory who stated they don't carry the rings (in any size) and offered no other assistance.

I did find 56.1 x 70 rings, but they are plastic and the NAM posts aren't encouraging. Seems I need metal.

Steel wheels and plastic hub rings will make the rings crack.. Honestly, even if you got rings they may not work since steel wheels are not desgined to except hub rings. In alum wheels the have the pocket in the rear of the hub to hold the rings..?

Are you getting a vibration at one speed or all speed?

Bad news about the steelies. The vibration sure felt like balance: Started in hard about 50 mph, diminished around 70 mph, but still there at lower and higher speeds. Had all the wheels rebalanced with no success. I dismounted the wheels to swap out fronts to backs, one side at a time to isolate the bad wheel and noticed that there was a ton of play in where the wheel sat relative to the hub center. I kept the wheels in their original corners, but euyeballed the center when remounting them. It ook out 90-95% of the vibration. But, even a little bit will wear my new Hakkas into eggs by the end of the season.

If what you say is true (no doubt intended), then maybe I need to contact the seller and insist they take back the wheels and I'll buy alloys. You'd think a reputable tire/wheel seller would know about this issue.

My concern with the wheel/spacer relationship is that the ring, IMHO, only lines up the hub and wheel center and does not support the wheel. This is done by the wheel lugs???

Go to this website. Fred the owner is awesome. He made mine for the Pooper after I put on the BBK and needed a hubcentric spacer 10mm for a set of OZ rims. Made them that day and shipped them out. Just make sure you have the right measurements. Its on you - you screw up you bought it. So measure a bunch of times. Lucky for me i got it right the first time, which is a first. Good luck.

If you want hard to find hubcentric rings, try to find our 56.1 to 65! Man, I've tried all of the usual suspects, searched all threads here and MINI2, PM'd folks, sent a few emails, contacted the manufacturer (Volks/Rays/Mackin), and have yet to find anything... Very frustrating.

VoiD, thank you. Unfortunately, I'm 99% certain that I tried these guys. They are essentially Discount Tire Center also... in El Monte, CA. I'll check again tomorrow, but I do recall chatting with them... If I'm mistaken, I'll report back. Thanks again.

I really do want metal as one of the plastic ones is showing signs of deterioration...

Actually, I just recently approached one of our NAM members about making some wheel spacers (4mm front & 2mm rear) that incorporate the hubcentric rings...

Well, here's how it all turned out. Got the rings from Discount Tirees Direct via Al Gore's internet invention. $15 for 4 rings, including shipping

The inner race fit perfrctly on the axle hub. The outer diameter of the ring was .6 mm too large for the wheel, so an hour with a Dremel and some careful trimming work on the ring and the wheel took care of it.

Car's smooooooth. All's well.

TonyB:
I just installed a set of 8mm hubcentric spacers custom CNCd for me by wheeladapters.com. (Just talk with Fred Goeske, the owner - 818 992 5700) They fit like gloves. Absolutely perfect. A bit pricey at $65 each, but I paid PayPal and they were shipped same-day.

Phil, those are sweet! I am quite envious. I already put-on some 5mm spacers... Finding centering rings for the Volk CE28N's and our MINI was difficult, at least when I looked sometime ago. I like how yours is all incorporated!

$24 for plastic set of 4

Be sure of the size you need. There are alot of different rings.
Measure it again.
