In need of new brake pads

So my brake warning light came on today in my car and I was wondering what kind to get. I don't need anything fancy and I am looking for seomthing that is relatively cheap but still has a really good life to them.

I need a set for just everyday driving, no racing, just simple drive to work drive home from work.

I was looking at EBC GREENSTUFF BRAKE PADS from minimania.com Anyone else have any other suggestions? Even those I found to be a little pricey but whatever.

Thanks everyone.

i think im going to try Hawks pads when mine are gone. tirerack has them.

you might be able to find a set of used factory ones from someone that
changed pads due to the excessive brake dust.

Hawk pads are excellent for minimizing dust. Make sure to have your rotors measured for minimum thickness before putting a second set of pads on used rotors. . .

I have a slightly used set of OEM fronts off my car. Yours for just the cost of shipping. They were replaced around 25000 miles but they still have plenty of material left on the pad (I don't know exact numbers as they in the boot of my car right now and I'm not).

If your sensor came on you might want to check the rear calipers. My brake pad sensor came on around 25000 miles, turned out the rear caliper had seized up so the rear pads were nuked. Front pads were fine though.

I put Hawk HPS pads up front last spring and have been very happy with them. Not as dusty as OEM and a great feel. I have done a little AutoX and track time with them as well, and they seem to do very well for light use.

I bought mine from LTD Motorsports and they have them on sale right now for $84.15 (front) / $80.75 (rear)!

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the the top three mentioned. All three will reduce the amount of brake dust.I went with Greenstuff, and they seem to be fine.

In need of new brake pads...

My rears went just over 48K and I replaced all 4 corners with Mintex Reds from Eric at Helix. A lot less dust and the pedal feels slightly firmer.
No track time but some spirited runs with NEMINI and PhillyMINI.

I found my Mintex Reds wore a lot faster than my Hawk HPS pads have. Just a personal observation.

Sure, Hawk Cermic blends brake power with less dust - not for as agressive driving as the HPS pad. Good street pads!

Thanks guys for all the help, not sure exactly what I am going to go with yet but I am leaning towards the hawk cermic just ebcause I don't drive hard at all. But we will see need to check prices and shops.

But thanks again.

im on DS2500 front and back before i got my wilwood kit on... so far i loved the ds2500, it was predictable on the track, and gave me only a bit of fade after a few hard laps....

i have wilwood bbk now, with A pads up front, ill probably try the hawk hps for the rear next as ive heard nothing but good things about them

as far as the sensor wire goes, when you disconnect the existing sensor, does the light shut off? I dont want to use the sensors on my new pads.

if the existing sensor has been activated, it must be replaced to turn off the light. just disconnecting the sensor should activate the light. if you don't want to use the sensors, just zip-tie them to something out of the way.
