Some ppl just dont get it that NOT everyone cares about performance.
I totally "get it", but not in the context of this particular car. The GP is supposed to be all about performance and light weight. Why save 40 lbs deleting the extremely functional rear seat when you just add it back again in unsprung weight? In this case, I would say that BMW doesn't get it.

Wow well that about sums it all up. And I think that's what it all boils down to with a lot of manufacturers these days. They just dont get it!! A "performance" car should have performance parts throughout the vehicle...that is the whole point of the stupid car. That's like Dodge putting a Hemi in a 300 big *** touring sedan chassis and calling it a Charger....what an insult to the classic muscle car...its a big overweight piece of crap. As I said before..they just dont get it. THanks for letting me vent!

XAlfa, as a connoisseur of Crap ... I think you missed something here. The wheels they are showing and pictures here are the JCW R105s, readily available for some time now. They are NOT the GP wheels.
I grant you the GP wheels "should" be lighter but that is not what the pictures show or what is being discussed.
I agree the GP wheels should be lighter but not these ...
minibrute, most everyone here understand about unsprung weight ... what your missing, is that the vast majority of owners could care less .... Of 140000 MINIs sold, what percentage do you think STILL have OEM wheels vice the performance oriented ppl who have to have light wheels.
Two different sets of ppl with totally different needs and wants. Take a look at the comments on MINI2 ... many ppl LOVE those R105s ... Not everyone could care one twit about a few pounds of unsprung weight .... To each, their own!
I know that not everybody cares about unsprung weight, they are the ones who are not getting it and missing out, whatever. A car like the gp should have light oe wheels. I still love you all but you'd be wise to loose the heavy shoes, thats all.
Just to point out, that yours was the first insulting post in this thread. Also, not everyone who buys wheels knows about the benefits of unsprung weight (we all had to learn sometime).
