Rota Slipstream 15x7.5, 16x7.5 and 16x8 GROUP - SPECIAL ORDER

http://sccaforums.com/forums/ShowThr...=177244#177249

I am doing a special order on some Rota Slipstreams in a 4x100, 56.1mm hub, 40mm offset, 15x7.5 in Flat Black for color. Anyone interested should chime in at sccaforums.com. We are also doing this for 16x7.5 amd 16x8 but there hasn't been as much interest on those so far.

$500 SHIPPED on the 15x7.5 - ON ORDER
$530 SHIPPED on the 16x7.5 - cancelled
$550 SHIPPED on the 16x8 - need 3 more sets to make the order
15x8 - $525 SHIPPED - need 3 more sets to make the order

I need 10 guys for each size/OS/Hub/Color for the 7.5" wide 15/16's and 5 total for the 16x8's. I cannot afford to order them all, so, I am setting up this group order to do so.

We just got the 15x8 approved from Rota as well. I think we might be able to get the needed 5 sets on 15x8. Now we only need to figure what the offset should be. I hate guessing, so, I'm am hoping Webb Motorsports can take some measurements on my 15x7 Slipstreams with a Kumho V710 mounted with the suspension in place and setup. If not, I'll do it after I pickup my car on Monday.

As far as 16x8's, I cannot believe noone jumped on those either. We already have 40 sets ordered in the 15x7.5 wheels.

yea no kiddin. i swear im always reading posts on people looking for 16x8s or how wide of a wheel can i fit on my cooper s? i guess everyone just ends up buying a 7.5in. its odd.
so how long you gonna wait on this 16x8 list? i cant wait to get new wheels and tires on the car. im guessing its going to be a big change.

I'd probably jump in on the 16x8s, but for me black is a problem. I'm a chromophobic and I do my best to stay away from silvers, etc, but flat black is too much.

Not that I need another set of wheels, however, you can get these wheels cheaper direct from Rota.

Yup, I'm a bit picky. I like subdued (some call it dull) shades for wheels; no white or black, and no colors (yellow or otherwise). What does that leave? Let's see, gunmetal, anthracite, steel gray, light gray, the less colorful of the bronzes, that sort of thing. Here are a few of my favorites.

SSR Competition - anthracite w/ polished lip - I have these...sorry Craig (they used to be his and I bet he wishes he didn't sell them to me)

Kosei K1-TS - light gray - I have these too

Weds Sport TC-005 - can't remember whether they call this gray or light gray

Weds Sport SA-90 - bronze

Volk LE37T - I think this is a "limited edition" version of the TE37, but I don't know what's "limited" about it - also don't know what they call this color

Gram Lights 57S Pro - gunmetal

Black Racing N1 - the site I lifted the pic from called it bronze

Nice wheels.
LE-37T = TE-37 with polished lip.

Craig & kurvhugr -

If I could get some HONEST assurance that 16x8, 40mm offset is really going to work before investing in wheels I can't return or get rid of otherwise, I would be in for at least one set.

My basic plan at this point is to get Bilstein PSS9's and RDR camber plates for STX class autocross, so I am quite worried about rubbing without having to butcher my brand-new fenders. ALSO, I don't know what tire size to run in STX on these fatties. I have no clue if any 15-inch wheels will clear the JCW brakes, so it may be risky to go that route.

FYI - I've already test-fit a friend's set of 16x6.5 SSR Comps, and they fit over the JCW brakes with PLENTY of clearance.

As for COLOR - I agree with Kurvhugr - I would much rather have Royal Steel Grey, Royal Silver or even Royal Gun Metal, in that order. ('Royal' in Rota-Speak means it has a polished lip like the SSR Comps.)

Anybody want to switch BACK from the DARK SIDE to get Kurvhugr and I in to make this 16x8 buy happen? :impatient

Heck, I would even entertain an additional set of 16x7.5 SubZero's (for street use) if we could get 5 people to agree on this (rather inflexible) color situation.

http://www.18racing.com/wheels.html and www.rotawheel.com both have some good color examples if you look at the different model pages. There are 2 Mini's on http://www.18racing.com/gallery.html that show Royal Gun Metal and Royal Black, too.

The Subzero pic featured on 18racing shows the Royal Steel Grey that looks really classy...

doesnt matter much to me what color. as long as its grey or black. dont really want a polished lip though. if we could get this deal done quicker with a different color that would be great. oasisT said he was gonna try and get measurments on what offset is gonna work. havent heard anything yet. i just wanna get this done. gunmetal might be a better choice for the masses than black. just from what people seem to like

I've been hunting for good pics of Slipstreams in gunmetal and steel gray and I've now seen at least a dozen different colors/shades of each. Here's a good example - this site shows two pics, supposedly both flat gunmetal, but they look like two different colors to me. I'll take either of them though....

Never mind, I'd buy a set in either steel gray or gunmetal. I even like the flat gunmetal if it looks anything like the pics on that site.

Actually, I don't think you can get these at all direct from Rota, much less cheaper, because they're a special order spec......right guys?

yea im pretty sure the idea was to get offset and whatever else specificley for the mini. getting the best offset thats gonna work for our setup. i dont think we have gotten to that point yet because we dont have enough people interested, so it hasnt been dicided on what were gonna go with. oasist was gonna do measurments or something. someone with 16x8 had posted before saying 40+ would work best.

Still waiting for measurements from Webb Motorsports once we get the suspension mounted and tuned with some camber. As far as color, Gunmetal would be fine, or, any other variance similar to whatever you guys want. I'm not picky at all, just as long as its not chrome. I'll have 9 sets of Rota's when its all said and done, so, I've got some serious testing to do with setup. I'm in LA right now waiting for the Prosolo this weekend, then, I'll be back to denver to pickup the car for the trip home to KC. Sometime while I'm in Denver I'll make sure we get some real good measurements if its not done by then. The bad thing is, if someone has these with zero camber, obviously the desirable offset will be a bit different I'd guess.
The 15x8 group buy has been approved and we are waiting on offset info on those as well. Rota said they are waiting on me for that info to start production, I'll probably order 2-3 sets of those as well. In the meantime, I'll be running on 15x7.5's that are already on special order.
