Wheel/Tire Question

Final sanity check before I order things:

16 x 7 et40 wheel (Rota Slipstream) and 205/50/R16 tires.

Is this an ok combo? The more I read the more confused I seem to get.

Good work...

Those seem like the right sizes to me. I'll be doing the same sizes, but diff wheels.

What tires? What color rotas?

Pretty sure they'll be flat black Slipstreams as they are in stock for sure (I'm picking them up from 18Racing.com since they are local). The tires are going to be Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212. I have a choice of ET40 or ET45, that is where I'm stuck for now.

May as well do the et 40... It will stick out and fill the fender better... Some just use 5mm spacers to do that. More offset=more agressive, in my opinion.

and still within the >40et recommendation.

I had the exact same decision a few months ago and asked the same question. The perpondernce of advice at the time was to get the +45 offset. Also be sure to get the rims in 56.1mm centerbore so that you don't have to use hubcentric rings. The Slipstreams do come in that size. I ended up getting the Rota Subzeros instead because I couldn't find the Slipstreams in Full Royal Gunmetal. I also went with the same size tire. You could go to a more street friendly tire like 205/55 - 16. That would provide slightly less performance, but give you a softer ride.

I think 42 is ideal, but you might check with Ken Chan on this board--he has quite a bit of knowledge on which combinations will work with a 16" wheel.

I went with volk te-37's in a 16x7, 42 offset (powder coated gunmetal). Currently running 215/50, but getting a little rubbing in the rear (h-sport springs)--probably have to drop down to a 205/50.

I have 205/50 on 16s and love it. Slight up in performance via slightly lowered gearing, the problem is it doesn't fill up the wheel well as much. I'm OK with it.

Are you running stock suspension?

Picked up the Rota Slipstreams directly from the warehouse where they all come from the Phillipines and saved myself shipping charges. There were tons and tons and tons of Rota boxes stacked floor to ceiling

Now for the tires... They'll be in later this week.

My Autoenginuity Scan tool / software thing came today as well.. too bad it's raining super hard or I'd go out and play with that too.

Yep. No real interest in lowering right now. I know it would take care of the "look," but I'm happy with the way the stock suspension performs for my purposes.
