Cheap steelies?

What size stelies will fit a MINI?

I just need a pair of them for a set of slicks. Will a set of 15 inch 4 lug 4x100 honda steelies fit, and if so, does a wide enough stelie exist that will fit a 205/60/15 tire?

4 inches isn't wide enough for a 205/60-15. You'll need at least 5.5 to 6 inches, 6.5 would be even better. Call around to a tire store, most of them can get steel wheels to fit just about anything. I just picked up some last winter for $34 each that were hubcentric to my car.

Please be very careful - steel wheels are not designed for ANY competitive use, a failure could be catastrophic - I have seen it happen.

Good point Alex. I've only used mine for snows and would use them for nothing else. Even at that, I had two that got bent in just one season of use.

Rick, I am picking up a pair of MINI steel wheels(as in the ones the dealer sells) in Pittsburg on the 3rd. I will sell them to you for $100 that is 50% off of dealer price. They maybe have 1500k miles on them, I just bought them for the tires. Let me know.

I need something to use for a spare, only. Would one of these be OK?
Can I order just one somewhere? Any suggestions as to where to get one?
Is a tire store a good place?

Yes, a cheap 15" steel wheel would make a great spare. Just make sure you test-fit it on the front wheels before you need to use it. There's a slight chance that a 15" wheel will not fit over the front brakes. Most of them do, a few do not. It would be annoying to need to use it for a front wheel only to find that it doesn't fit.

If i use it for a front wheel only and the back wheel blew out, guess I'd have to rotate one back, then put the spare on the front. Sorry to seem stoopid, but really, I'm just ignorant and honest.

BTW, my tire is a 16". Can I get a wheel the 16" will go on?

A wheel (spare or otherwise) can be used on either the front or the back. The possible problem is the front brakes are bigger than the rear brakes. That's why I said to test fit it on the front of the car. If it fits on the front, it will fit on the rear.

You can also see how expensive it would be to go to the dealership and buy a spare that comes with a Cooper... it would fit just as well on an MCS.
