Discount Tire

Saturday i went to Discount tire at Broadway and H in chula vista, and they quote me a set of 4 Dunlop SP Sport 9000 DSST Tires at $1200.00 Dollars..

they suggest the Pirelly Euphori R/F at $960.00 Dlls. still expensive.

any suggestion for cheap Run Flat tires?

Thanks .

Note: I have read most of the msg. they go more for the performance but for me, a personal point of view is 50 % performance and 50 % the look of the tire, per example have a better view the Dunlop than the pirelli , but i think have more weight the pirelli brand name. i think we have this cars to show the hummans ( w/out a mini) how beautifull are. hehehe .

I'd spend around 100$ or less for a regular tire, get a can of fix-a-flat and a portable compressor.

All that = 430$

Search the benefits of non runflat tires and you'll have no trouble talking yourself out of spending the 1000$ for the things.

Run Flat and cheap or inexpensive are words that are not allowed to be used unless you use the word "NOT" inbetween the words "Flat" and "Cheap" or between "flat " and Inexpensive

ok good advice..

I am blank about the Run flat tires system, i really dont know if i can use a run-flat can, is this posible?

i really dont want to have a air compresor because the trunk is to small (have 6 disc box and wife you know bags, coats, and woman stuff) but the price of the run flats are convencin me to buy a normal tire, i really like the look of the Goodyear F1 DS-G3 is agresive.

Quite honestly, a small compressor is not much bigger than a can of fix a flat, it doesn't fill your tire with goop, and you don't have to replace it if you have to use it. Small compressor, a set of tire plugs and you're good to go.

I was looking for it in the MINI Motoring Accessories 2006 catalog and Couldn't find it. Also couldn't find it on the web page. I do remember reading about it in the owners manual.

Go to TireRack.com and search for the Continental convenience kit. It's a compressor and goop.

for $20 at Sears and have also seen it at Pep Boys for the same price. It fits, in the hideaway storage bin the boot.

Does anyone actually use this kind of fix a tire kit in a real situation?
What do you have and does it really work well?

I just purchased Toyo Proxies 4 plus new rims for $800. I don't like Discount Tire, I use a local company.

I assume you're looking at 17" tires, right? Tire Rack has the Dunlops for $235 each x 4 = $940. Discount Tire will match their price no questions asked. When they do, make sure they only charge you their regular $11 per tire install fee ($44). I think there are environmental and disposal fees of around $10 per tire ($40). That gets you up to $1024. Add tax and you're around $1103.

Voila - I just saved you $100!

Personally, I'm switching to non-run-flats when I get my new wheels, and putting the Continental Comfort Kit in the boot just in case. Search for it on tirerack.com.

Good luck!

Or, check the Tires & Wheels section of the Marketplace here on NAM. Lots of people sell their run-flats when they upgrade. Might find a bargain there.

Go non-runflat and improve your ride characteristics and handling 10 fold. Pick this up:
http://www.myminiparts.com/proddetai...rod=STK&cat=11

Mine fits inside the access panel on the left side of the boot. Voila', no loss of "cargo space

As far as tires, the Yokohama AVS ES 100 is a great tire for around $100 each. Other higher performance options include Goodyear F1 GSD3, Bridgestone SO3, Falken Azenis ST-615, Kumho Ecsta, Bridegstone KDW, the list goes on...

Discount Tire and Pikes Peak!

I'm rather partial to them at this time. Great service, great selection and right there in bold print!
