Help! Brake squeal!
i recently did a high performance driving school on the Wilwood A pads for my Wilwood BBK... i swapped the BP10s back when the day was over and i thought that was that
but after that, my brakes developed a dreadful squeal at mid brake usually associated with traffic stop and go brake travel.... meaning eveyrtime i brake people around me stare and wonder what the hell is wrong with my car!
i checked the bp10s, they are glazed, so i grind them on concrete a bit, till the shiny layer is almost gone, i put them back on, and went for a quick bedding session.,... but after bedding it in, again the squeal came back
my friend suggest i try putting on the A pads and run on them for a few days before swapping back to bp10s....
should i also check my rotors? im gonna try grinding down the pad again on concrete to wear off some of the glaze if i didnt bed them in properly, otherwise, anyone got any suggestions? im gonna put the mini away just because i cant stand the look on people's faces when they stare and i brake! especially in a crowded parking lot!

I had continual squeal problems with Wilwood pads on my 13" TCE/Wilwood BBK. I tried BP-10, E, and Q pads. I used B pads for track day which also squeal but was acceptable for the track day. Based on Todd's (from TCE) suggestions, I tried sanding the pads, sanding the rotors, wilwood shims, and even resurfacing the rotors but nothing worked. I finally gave up on the Wilwood pads and purchased Hawk HPS pads (HB101.800). The Hawk HPS pads work great for the street. Good braking performance and no squeal. The disadvantage is that I had to modify the HPS pad plate to work with the Wilwood FSL calipers. So depending on what calipers you are using, you might also need to modify the pad plate. The FSL calipers use the 7420 Pad Plate (notch for bolt) and the Hack HPS HB101.800 pads are designed for a 7320 pad plate (hole for bolt). Hawk does not offer a 0.800" thick pad with the 7420 pad plate. The modification is to cut off the tab with the hole (I used a hack saw) and grind a notch in the plate (I used a bench grinder and file). The pads fit fine after the mod.
