Ceramic Brakes?

Hi All-

I'm looking to put ceramic brakes on my mini, since I have white wheels and it's getting frustrating to keep cleaning them. Does anyone have any reccomendations on a set they really liked?

Thanks, Kat

Before going BBK, I used Hawk Ceramics. I have also installed them on a friend's 350Z, Audi A4 and my wife's Audi TT. They all enjoy significant reduction in brake dust and at least as good braking performance as they had with OEM pads.
cheers,

I put on the Hawk Ceramics exactly a week ago. I can already say brake dust is MUCH much less. After a week I'd normally have pretty filthy wheels and the painted calipers would be showing a good bit too. I can barely see a little dust on the wheels. Maybe 10% of what the regular pads were.

Be aware if you have a 05 or 06 they don't have slots for the rear brake wear sensor. I and many other just tie the sensor off to the side. I keep a close eye on things and won't run out of pad.

I've had great luck with EBC GreenStuff pads. My ROTA Slipstreams stay nice & shiny

I have the Hawk Ceramics too. Dust is minimal, you can actually wash the wheels with the car and not every other day.

W3IWI, do you find the green stuff squeek? I'd heard two folks say they did a little bit just before stopping. But I don't know if they put anti squeal on the backs of the pads when installing.

I have white wheels as well and very pleased with EBC Greenstuff for the past three years. It really keeps the brake dust down significantly. Something else you can do to help is to make sure to wax your wheels. Both EBC Greenstuff and waxing your wheels will keep them sparkling clean longer and much easier to clean.

I have the Hawk ceramics, had the brakes done in late April, and I love them! I cannot believe how much easier it is to keep the wheels looking good...and they feel on a par with the stopping power of the OEM pads.

Mine used to squeel under low speed breaking. They don't anymore though. I think they just got a little glazed at some point and that glaze is gone now.

I will say I'm pretty satisfied with them, although I would like a pad with a little better initial bite. The EBC greens seem to need a little more push before they have the same sort of grab as the stocks.
