I was wondering whether to get a spare and keep it in the trunk or get a small compressor and a patch kit while running my non run flats in the summer. What do you do?
Just picked one up a month or so ago for our 05 MCS... 2005-06 Cobalt space saver for $45 at a local junkyard here in Phoenix. A little extra security, especially on those long runs. Even a runflat wont protect you from a situation of hitting something like a big rock in the dark and breaking or bending a wheel bad enough that its not driveable.
I picked up a MINI donut spare. Normally keep it in the boot, but on trips I tie it down behind the drivers seat and the rear seat so I can put luggage in the boot.
I can't put the seat back in this position, but shouldn't do that while I'm driving anyway.
There's a number of benefits of the MC over the MCS - that's definitely one, Jason
Also, better gas mileage, less $$$ upfront, the only way to have a Brown MINI ... did I miss any?

Lucky, I would guess. Just not too many Cobalt spare anythings floating around the junkyards yet.
If I'm driving any distance from home I have a donut spare in a Jersey Girl bag tucked behind the front passenger seat. I do this even with runflats on the car.
I carry a full size runflat as a spare, but only keep it in the MINI for long trips. Around town, I have a compressor, fix-a-flat, and roadside assistance.

As per Crashton and Holdenontoit......ditto. However, this is with riding on non-runflats. I keep the doughnut behind the driver's seat all the time.
JerseyGirl's bag makes it very easy to move the spare when needed.
