Yoki Advan A048 vs. Hankook Z214
I am sure no one here has had experienced both compounds, but would want to hear some feedback from people who have tried either
i need some new r-compounds, and decide to go with a more track bias compound... the Z214 is the cheaper of the two, but used, and 205/50-16, isnt much wider than stock, it is the C50 compound, so its the medium one, it is a new tire by hankook, i dont know if anyone has had experienced these on long track days, how well do they hold up?
as for the A048s, i got a quote of nearly 3 times the price, but are brand spanking new, in 225/45-16, which is what i want as i want to be a bit wider... however, now i fear even more of rubbing on both the inside AND the outside when im on the track... it does give me an excuse to go with the A048 as i wanted those for ages
thanks

I currently use the A048s as autocross rain tires. I also have used them in the dry when my son was going with me (Jr. Kart) to an event and I didn't have room for an extra set of wheels. I just drove there on them, took my runs and drove home.
I'm using 225/50-15s, so I really can't comment on how yours will fit. I had a tiny bit of rubbing in the back, but only on the street over bumps when the shocks are set soft. I can't hear it, but there was a fine layer of plastic on the tire shoulder. With some miles and events on the tires, they no longer touch. I never bothered to trim anything, but it would just be buzzing off a tiny bit of the inner edge of the plastic trim.
In front, the tires just barely kissed the strut. They'd go on just fine, but I installed a set of 5mm spacers to make sure they weren't dragging.
For what it is worth, 225/45-15 Avon Tech R's on another set of the same 7" Kosei's didn't touch anywhere. The car is lowered, and running -2.3deg F / -1.8deg R camber. For reference, there are pictures of the car with the A048s in this thread. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...hlight=threads
The A048s grip pretty well (not Hoosiers, but WAY more tire than Azenis), work well in the rain, and are wearing pretty well. They've got about 30 runs on them on abrasive surfaces, plus over 4000 miles. They are getting shorter, but there is still plenty of groove left.
No idea on the Kooks.
