put new shoes on today
Hi all,
After months of research and wanting to maximize the life out of the runflats, I went ahead and put on new shoes today. I went with the big splurge and got the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's in 205-50-16 . I love the aggressive tread pattern. The Goodyear runflats got me to 29,200 miles but the fronts were shot. One had 3/32 and the other had 2/32 . The rears still had 4-5/32 on them, but I had a plug in one and 2 plugs in another. I deliberately stopped rotating them a year ago to run through them as quick as I could.
Now for a question. What should I be running the new shoes at? I think they are overinflated to 38 psi now. I used to run the runflats at 31 psi, since I hardly had any passengers or heavy cargo in the car. The tech looked on the doorjamb, but of course 205-50-16 isn't listed there. I could have told him that! I'm thinking 33 psi since I will mostly be the only one in the car and won't have much cargo in there either.
Thanks for your help...By the way, the other tires I had considered were the Pirelli P Zero-Nero's and the BFG G-force Sport, but I don't need all-seasons.

Thanks for the replies. I was also worried that the tech overtorqued my lugs too, after reading the receipt. It said they torqued the lugs to 90 ft/lbs, and I thought 80 was the norm. But the manual says 88.5, so I should be ok.
After closer inspection, these tires are Z-rated...205/50/ZR16, 87Y, made in Germany. But the date code seems a bit old to me...4904 (first week of December, 2004). Should I be concerned? I know that all tires should be replaced every 5-6 years, regardless of miles. I figure that by December of 2010 I'll be ready for another set of tires, if not sooner.
Running 34 psi now...much better!
