1st flat tire

1st flat tire
Hey all,
I had my 1st flat tire in the MINI today, and being Sunday, there's no one to fix it. I would like to know what the average cost of a new run flat would be and if they can be easily repaired. The tire in suspect has 27 psi while the other 4 are at 35 with the light on. Also, if anyone knows a good place to go near Havelock, NC I would appreciate it. Thanks!

New runflats run about $300 if the hole is in the middle of the tire then it can be repaired fairly cheap (depend upon where you go and who you talk to some just want to sell you a new tire). Keep in mind if this tire goes flat again though you have to remeber that there is already wear on the sidewall or the tire. Another thing to do is fill it up to 35, let it sit over night and see if it drops at all, I know sometimes my RF s would loose a little pressure and they'd be real low before I'd think to check because the sidewall is so stiff. (Now I check at least weekly, carry a can of fix-a-flat, and have low profile tires non RF)

Yes. Low pressure causes a wheel to rotate at a different rate than other wheels and the light comes on.
Fill it and start looking for nails/screws/etc. in the tire causing a slow leak.
If it has one and it's on the tread you should be able to get it patched (avoid plugs when possible).
If the tire is damaged beyond repair and requires replacement, be sure to check with your dealer for take-offs. Many folks order in new tires/rims and many dealers have new or slightly used tires stacked in their back rooms. I was able to buy a new OEM Goodyear RS/A runflat for $100 from mine.
Worth a try if needed. Good luck, hope it's fixable.

depending on the location of the puncture it can be fixed.
i would take it into either your dealer or call around your local
tire store to see if they do runflats. some stores do not handle
run flat tires as they are harder to mount vs normal tires.
for any reason they can't fix it, check in the market place here
at NAM and look for one used tire. these runflats are very
expensive to purchase new and imho, not worth it to purchase
new.
