195mm width tires that can work with chains
I am planning on going to a 15 wheel and I was hoping to get some information on tires.
The plan is to use 195/60/15 as that keeps almost the exact overall diameter and TireRack has over 50 different flavors. A majority of the driving is highway (as I have go fast tire/wheels) BUT, I do go snowboarding twice a month during the winter. According to the MINI manual it says not to go beyond the 16" wheel which comes with a 185 width tire.
I was hoping to get feedback from someone that has used chains on a 195 wide tire.

Chains? That's pretty hardcore. . . I don't know that I've seen chains on a passenger car in, like, 20 years.
I live in Colorado and I go up snowboarding in the MINI and it's pretty good if you're staying within your limits with snow on the ground, but nothing is going to get you through more than 8 heavy or 12 fluffy inches. She's not a truck. Some really knobby winter tires on some skinny rims for a winter set is your best bet. U can change them out before you go up. It takes a few mins to change them all. Not too bad.
Good luck!

Chains
I drove the MINI from Montana to LA during that huge snow storm last winter on the 17" summer tires and that was not fun ride from Butte to Salt Lake.
On the way up to Mammoth when the snow is coming down CHP stops all incoming traffic makes them chain up. Even if you have Blizzaks.
So I have to be able to run chains. I think John Cougar said it best when he said, I fought the law and the law won.

jwardell has a webpage that points to these tires for winter made in Finnland Finn's rock. I know, I am one!
They look really 70's retro tread sears pattern for snow tires. Supposedly they cut the deep snow like BUTTAH.
i wish i had enough $$$ to buy a set of holies and place a nice pair of 185 Finn tires on it.
What about studded tires? those work well too but I havent seen them in a long time as well.
