Decisions decisions...

Kumho Ecsta SPT
or
Yokohama Parada Spec-2 ????

Anyone have experience with these two tires? They're very comparable on tirerack.com. I like the looks of the Yoko's but the Kumho's might be a little more quiet. I gotta lose my runflats plus I have one that needs replacing. These will be going back on my s-lites (can't afford wheels right now) in a 205 45 17.

Anyone's 2¢ is welcome.
TIA

Kumho Ecsta SPT vs. Yokohama Parada Spec-2

Anyone have any experience with these? I'm finally losing the RF's and have it narrowed down to these two. I'm putting them on my S-Lites (can't afford wheels yet) in a 205 45 17. I know a lot of people run the Yoko's and love them. I've had good experiences with Kumho 711's. The price is about the same at Tirerack.com I'm only concerned about the noise. I like the look of the Yoko's better but they "look" louder.
Anyone's 2¢ is appreciated.

I have about 85,000 miler on Pepper. I've run Pirrielies, Dunlaps,, Republics (rebadged Goodyears), the Kumos you mentioned, and Yokos. Th khumos ride better than most and are quieter tham most. I trake the car about 12 to 20 times a year. They stick about the best I have tried. When I replace the tires this winter I will stay with the Khumus. That about says it all. Damn I wish I had a SPELL CHECKER.

Motor on.

The Paradas are VERY loud after only a few thousand miles. In addition min eonly lasted 12k miles before they were shot. I would go SPT before Parada. Another option is the Yoko AVS100's. I had those prior to the Paradas and they lasted longer, were quiter and had better grip.

AVS100 isnt highly rated in some other automotive forum because of its wear. I would just get the SPT or maybe the MX.. great tires

I ran the AVS100's and the paradas, and the AVS's last a LOT longer, at least they did for me (this was back on my integra)

I have tested both. Parada spec 2 is the cooler looking, but as a trade off the larger tread blocks could produce more noise.

Kumho SPT is a quieter choice, improved hydroplaning resistance.

Depends on your preferences!

We have the Kumho SPTs in 215/40/17 on OZ Ultraleggeras on my wife's MCC and love them. They are quiet, very sticky and produce a very comfortable ride. I like them enough that when my RFs are dead and I replace my S-Lites and the tires together I'll go with the Kumho SPTs. Several others in our local club have the SPTs and all of us seem to agree that they are a great tire.

Thanks, Alex. I live in so. calif. so rain isn't much of an issue. I'll probably go with the Yoko's cause they look b-chin and get great reviews (as do the Kumho's). What's the difference between a 215 40 17 vs. a 205 45 17? Seems like it would be very slight.

Thanks for all your input. I went with the Yokohama Parada Spec-2 in a 205 45 17. I know (just about) everyone said to go with the Kumhos but I can't get over the look of the Yoko's. I know, who cares what they look like, but I do. Plus on tire rack they get great cornering reviews and I plan to go on some twisties. Plus my commute to work is 3 miles, noise shouldn't be too big of a factor.

I like my parada spec 2's. I have had them for 4000 miles, no problems. I have not have noise issues with these tires. Great handling tire & doesn't follow every groove on the freeways due to its tread pattern. Also, looks good.
