215/45/17 on a mini lite

Hello There,

What is the difference from going from the factory 205/45/17 size tire to a 215/45/17 tire? The 215 tire seemed to be more common at the local tire shop. The guy was not sure if they would fit on my current wheels though. The mini lite wheels.

Will they fit? Whats the advantage/disadvantage? Will an all season tire perform better on the 215?

Thanks,
Kenny

Yes, 215/45/17 will work fine. I'm running this size on my summer and winter (S-Lites) wheels.

I’ve used 215/45/17’s on S-lites over 4 years now and they fit fine.

I'm running 225x45x17 on the S-lites and love them. Had to add 5mm spacers to the front, the rears are OK.
No rubbing and IMO much much more control on the car.
The car acts like a sport car instead of a go-kart, I can play with drifting and throtle while turning hard instead of the jerking touchy feeling of the narrow RF tires; in addition to the stance improvement with the bigger tires compare to the "rubber bands".
I believe it is a matter of what you're looking for and like.
I regret not changing the RF for regular and bigger tires earlier.
