Buying tires from ebay?

Has anyone bought tires from ebay? Good/bad experiences and/or why this would be a bad idea. The reason I ask is the tires I was thinking of buying are way cheaper new on ebay. Thanks.

I bought 4 Dunlop runflats from a NAM member on this site. GREAT tires just as promised. They had 2-5k miles on them and sell for 200 each new. I got all 4 shipped to Colorado for $225 !!

I've bought tires and wheels, among other things, from ebay.....never a problem. Just make sure the member has good feedback and a very accurate description with good quality pics. Also, if they're used make sure you ask if they have ever been plugged, patched, damaged, etc. My last recommendation is to look at the shipping charges as I got burned on one purchase with a larger than expected shipping charge, which was my fault for not verifying before purchasing.

Ditto to 2Miniacs, I have bought alot of stuff on ebay and have been pretty lucky. The feedback should be watched closely as well as shipping charges for sure. I have found alot of good deals on ebay but the shipping charges were where they made up the rest of the cost of the product so buyer be aware.

Found a set of 16" Dunlop 5000's w/ R84's BRAND NEW for $600 + 40 fgt...PERFECT Take offs w/ less than 50 mi on them.

I will be replacing my 17" S-lites with them after winter (on my 04 MCS)

Just make sure that the seller has a feedback rating of at least 99% and the transactions were not those phoney's (like for $2) to build up the feedback)

I've bought a lot of MINI stuff from eBay and most has been top-notch in quality.

I also bought a set of used 16" Dunlop 5000 DSSTs. One arrived plugged, and I guess it's my fault for having not asked before I bought them. However, since it's in mid-tread, I do not foresee a problem. I feel I got a tremendous deal on them...great tread left, about 10,000 miles on them...I was the only bidder and received them shipped to my house for $135.

A year later I decided to buy a set of 15" wheels and OEM tires for winter use, as the thinner tires are supposed to be better in snow. I found a brand new set of take-off silver 8-spokes and Continentals for $225...complete, to my house.
