The R90 replicas are made by an Italian company call Ruotecompany they also make replice wheels for Audi/VW and BMW. Chances are you've probably seen some of these statesaide already, you just didn't know it.
The replicas weigh about 2kg (4.4lbs) per wheel less than the OEM R90s which seems to be a big deal for most guys in the states. They are, of course, only a one piece design however.
As for cost, you're having a laugh if you reckon these are expensive. Mind, we're probably getting ripped off for the OEM gear. In Aussie dollars the OEM R90s with runflat rubber can cost over AU$5000 (US$3900), whereas the R90 replicas, with far superior rubber to the runflats can be purchased for comfortably less than half that price. For example, I paid a touch over AU$2100 for mine with some really fine Goodyear rubber included. So to be able to get these for AU$670 (US$1650) is a bloody bargain as far as I'm concerned!
The centrecaps with the winged logo come with the wheels. If you wanted to use the OEM "MINI" caps you'll need to get the dremel out as they are too bug by just enough to be a right PITA.
As noted by Tit, these do have a different offset to the OEM wheels and they sit out closer to the guards, which IMO looks a bit nicer. Be warned though, that if you are on lowering springs you may get rubbing on some tyres. I'd steer well clear of 215s for example. The 205/45s on the pics above rubbed ever so slightly, but the 205/45s I have now, with a slightly rounder sidewall, don't rub at all unless on a very steep hill climb or with a couple of people in the back. Mind, with either tyre the rubbing is so minimal I have never been greatly concerned by it.
The only negative thing I have heard about these wheels is from people running them on salted roads in the UK. In some instances the studs around the outside, which are glued into place, have corroded. With our warmer climate and certainly no need to salt our roads, this has not been a problem in Australia to the best of my knowledge.
That should cover most things, but if you want to know more just let me know.
Cheers Liam
