Ordered my wheels & tires - and the winner is....

16 x 7 silver Panasports w/polished edge to be wrapped in 205/50/16 Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymetricals (Where's the smilie that jumps up and down with excitement??)

But, they are all backordered, and they will take about a month. I bought from Bryner at K.A.M. Specialties in Reading PA. He was GREAT to work with.

Thanks so much for all the help. I feel I'm a bit more educated about wheels and tires after all this. Thanks, too, to Alex at Tirerack. Even though I didn't end up buying from him, I will recommend him to anyone.

I would have probably gotten the Rotas if they came in a 16", but they come in 15s and lower.

LET THE WAIT BEGIN!!! :impatient

Sweet! How much do they weigh?

You lucky dog... the wife says I gota sell my Jeep before I can get wheels or she's leaving me... I'm sure gonna miss her (j/j).

Seriously, there are so many choices, I can't make up my mind.

They are a tad heavy at 18 lbs. Since I have no immediate plans to get into racing (although, I can race with my newborn in the back, right? haha), weight was a factor, but not THE factor. I think those Panasports are just GORGEOUS.

Yeah, I had to do some bartering with the husband. I had to promise to have my resume updated in two weeks post order date (we are going to try to relocate to Seattle). Not a bad trade-off.

O/T Your comment about "missing her" reminds me of a great story. In college, I dated a guy who was obsessed with his truck - toyota 4x4 that were so popular then. I asked him once, "If your truck and I were both about to go over a cliff, and you could only save one of us, what would you do?" He said, "I'd tell you to get your @$$ in the truck."

Those are pretty sharp. Too many spokes for my taste though. I'm so OCD, I'm of the thought that fewer spokes is better.... easier to clean since I QD the wheels at least 4 times a week.

Has anyone made a 2-spoke wheel yet ?

Just me but i dont like the less spoke look unless you got some nice brake set-up to look at. i dont want those ugly stock one poking thru. i am looking at some 8-spokers myself.

Shoot - I can't remember what name/model they were now. They looked almost identical to this same style...

Yeah, I have no plans to change brakes. So I have to agree with you on the ugly stock brakes sticking out. Now if I had some fly brakes, then I'd want to show them off!

Yeah, I know what you mean. I was kidding about just two spokes, of course. I love the look of Wanna's new wheels, just thinking from the aspect of keeping them clean. I love my 5-spoke Star OEM wheels because they balance great looks with ease of cleaning.

But I'm sure Wanna is going to keep his new wheels SPOTLESS.

If you don't mind me asking, how much were the wheels? I'll have to remember them for future reference...

Sure! Not at all. I got them for $245 a piece. However! I know that someone here got them on probably a closeout for under $200 a piece.

Panasport Wheel Fitment

16 x 7 silver Panasports w/polished edge

Does anyone have an idea if they fit over the JCW brakes. I'm sure the 17's will but I want the 16's.

Does anyone know of anyone that has done this?

ASA and Minilite also make 16's that fit but I prefer the look of the panasport. Yes I am picky!

Thanks for the help...

Panasports aren't even made in 17s, so that's not even an option. Not that you would want 17" Panasports anyway - that might look a little funny.

I hear ya'! That's why I went with them. There's certainly nothing wrong with the Minilites and the ASAs - just my preference were the Panasports (I think they are GORGEOUS).

Sorry, I'm not sure about the brakes. I'm hoping that someone can answer your question.

ETA - check out the pic of Dave's MINI (first pic in this post). Those are certainly upgraded brakes. Not sure if they are JCW though...

Thanks for the reply, perhaps somebody else knows the answer to the question.

I think it would be a good assumption that Dave's car has JCW brakes and perhaps he painted the rears to match the fronts.

Do you know of any way to contact "Dave" to ask him?

I have called Panasport and they have not replied as yet, I left a message, and I also called a couple of the distributors and they had no information to share as to fitments over the JCW brakes.

I want to replace my 17 r-98 web-spokes with 16 Panasports for the MVIV4 in March. I did the first leg of MTTS and have decided I would prefer the 16's.
