Palo Uber forged wheels installed (pics and short review)
Well, I finally got my new Palo Uber wheels installed the other day. I have had them for about 5 days now and wanted to post some pics and my opinions of the change. Perviously, I had 17" x 7" R90's with 45 series runflats. the new Palo's are 18" x 7.5" with 35 sreies tires. The older R90 are supposed to weigh about 24+ lbs. The new Palo's on the scale were 17lbs even. Since running around with the new rims on, I notice the steering feels a bit lighter. Not sure if that has anything to do with less rotating mass or not, or maybe placebo effect. But, I am really happy with the chnge to the cars appearance, even though I know really need to drop it to get the look I am after. Not too much of course to rub.
As for the rims themselves, they seem very well made. Palo Uber was great to deal with. They really made an effort to help me out and make sure everything was straight on my order. (Thanks Bryce! ) The only thing I am a little dissappointed about are the center caps. They are aluminium caps with Palo Uber stickers on them and stick on with 3M automotive tape. They look fine and I am sure they stick well, but when I need to get the wheels balanced again, I will need replacement caps which cost $5 a peice. Again, not a huge deal but not what I was expecting. Especially since the wheels have 6 small threaded holes where you could easily mount the center cap to. So, I will be drilling some holes in the caps they sent and screwing them on instead of sticking them on. Below are some pics, without caps.
Thank you,
John

They look great. I have a set of 17s in my garage for spring.
Agree with you regarding the center caps. They are likely to melt off the wheels the first track event I attend. Should be removable like most wheels so I can pop them out before hitting the track.
Other than that, very high quality finish and solid customer service from Uber.
