Run flats: change from one rim to another?
sorry if this has been asked, i did a search on it and could not find the answer.
i just bought a new set of rims, and my run flats only have 5k miles on them. is it okay to have the run flats taken off my stock rims and mounted to the new rims? the new rims are the same size and offset. or is there something about run flats that means i shouldn't do this? i just don't trust my local tire store to give me an honest answer.
thanks in advance

I thought RFs had a higher metal near the edges to accomodate the air not leaking out.
I would check on this. You can, of course, put a regular tire on a RF rim

When dismounting and remounting a runflat tire, damage to the tire bead often occurs which will produce random air loss. This is due to the sidewall stiffness and is more previlent with 45 and 40 aspect ratio tires.
The more daunting question is...why would you want to keep the runflats when it's a perfect opportunity to ditch them for a better performing non runflat tire which will improve the overall ride and handling of your Mini?
