I put 205/55 16" on my stock rims and it worked great. I could not handle those run flats. I felt every groove and pebble. Much better now! I could have waited until the tires were worn out, but why suffer for 25,000 + miles.

What tire brand did you get for the 205/55/16? I'm thinking of doing the same(but after my 16" run flats wear out, or have an unrepairable puncture).

He's asking about 15-inch rims. They are 5.5" wide vs. the 16-inchers which are 6.5" wide.

Go to the Tire Rack and search for that (or any other) size. If you click on the specs for the tire you're interested in, it will give you a range of wheel widths.

I check the Yokohama AVS ES100's in that size, and it looked like that it gives a rim width range of 5.5-7.5".

Here's a chart that someone prepared that shows the diameters for each size. I don't know what rim width they were calculated at, but it looks like you're in the ballpark diameter-wise.

+-----------+-------------------+
| TIRE SIZE | DIAMETER |
+-----------+-------------------+
| 195/55-15 | 23.44in (595.5mm) |
| 205/40-17 | 23.46in (595.8mm) |
| 215/50-15 | 23.46in (596.0mm) |
| 215/45-16 | 23.62in (599.9mm) |
| 195/50-16 | 23.68in (601.4mm) |
| 185/60-15 | 23.74in (603.0mm) |
| 215/40-17 | 23.77in (603.8mm) |
| 205/55-15 | 23.88in (606.5mm) |
| 215/35-18 | 23.93in (607.7mm) |
| 175/65-15 | 23.96in (608.5mm) |
| 225/45-16 | 23.97in (608.9mm) |
| 205/50-16 | 24.07in (611.4mm) |
| 225/40-17 | 24.09in (611.8mm) |
| 225/35-18 | 24.20in (614.7mm) |
| 195/60-15 | 24.21in (615.0mm) |
| 205/45-17 | 24.26in (616.3mm) |
| 215/55-15 | 24.31in (617.5mm) |
| 195/55-16 | 24.44in (620.9mm) |
| 185/65-15 | 24.45in (621.0mm) |
| 215/50-16 | 24.46in (621.4mm) |
| 215/45-17 | 24.62in (625.3mm) |

Anyone else here upgrade there stock fifteens?
Tirerack recommended going with that size (205/55). They did not recommend 195/55. I don't like the idea of increaing the diameter, so 195/60 is out. Please comment everyone. Thanks.

Thanks. Jim at Tire Rack rates the YokoEVS 100 quite highly.

205/55 is purfect. ES100 is very Highly rated by Mini Cooper owners aswell. And your mounting range is 5.5 to 7.5 inches.
