Help Deciding on Tires

Hello, i'm new to the forums. i just picked up an 02 Cooper S. I looove the car and the power and can't wait until I can start buying pulleys and upgrades and etc.

But the question I have is:

I have a set of 205/50/R17 from my previous car, the wheels don't fit in the mini cuz they have 5 bolts. They are Falken FK-452 that I use for auto-X and I would like to use them in the Mini.

So what it comes down to is: is it OK to mount those tires on the s-lites for auto-x? is it gonna damage the car/suspension/rubbing/ anything?

Thanks for the input!

205/50/17s are almost an half inch taller than the stock size..
It might not rub if you are on stock height but will be close when you lower it..
As for AutoX, it always better to run slightly smaller then stock size because of gearing.. Slites are heavy and larger tires are going to make it heavier and overwork the suspension too in the long run.

you can calculate the tire sizes here:

Thanks for the reply.

See the problem is that I already have those 205/50s and it's gonna be hard to sell them. I don't plan on lowering the car anytime soon, is it gonna make a huge difference in autoX? I know the stock tires are heavy and adding bigger tires will be heavier but I am in a tight budget atm.. hehe

Thanks again

its not ideal for performance as mentioned earlier, but if you just want to burn them up there to save some dough, go for it, you should be fine

alternatively, you could try and sell them, that is the stock size for a mazda3, just so you know, you might be able to sell them on mazda3forums, although you'll have to get 50 posts and 3 hours online there before they will allow you to post a FS thread.

are the wheels 5x100 or 5x114.3, mazda3's are 114.3 (4.5""), so you might be able to sell the wheels and tires a complete set instead. Just another option to consider.
