Tires - Looking for good deal and performance

Can anyone suggest a good tire? I need to purchase some new non-runflat tires for new wheels on the way. I don't need brand recognition. I would like good performance, something with a good tire life and a tire that doesn't cost a lot of money. What's the best tire that meets these requirements?

Thanks much!

Do you have a Cooper, Cooper S?
15", 16", 17", 18"
Do you autocross/track?
Does it rain a lot where you live?
If it does rain, are you concerned about superior wet traction?
Does it ever snow?
Is you car lowered or do you plan on lowering it?

Have been on a track once in my life so autocrossing and track time are really not an issue although I'd like to hit the track again.

18" diameter.

I'll have a winter set of wheels so snow is not an issue. I'd like to have traction in the wet equal to or better than the OEM run-flats that came with my Cooper S JCW.

A fair price? $100 max/piece max.

Car has not been lowered.

Your price point of $100 for 18" is going to limit you a bit.

I'd say the Kumho ECSTA SPT @ $97.00 each Ultra High Performance Summer 215/35/18: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....odel=ECSTA+SPT

A very highly regarded tire here on NAM and other MINI forums.

or...the Falken Ziex 512 for $86 Ultra High Performance All-Season 215/35/18:
http://www.edgeracing.com/tire/783/
...for $109 you could get the Falken Fk452: http://www.edgeracing.com/tire/3147/

Don't know if I can reccomend them yet, but I will be giving the General Exclaim UHP a try...they're sitting in my garage waiting for my Falken 615's to wear out...not long now

I'm not all that familiar with 18" wheels and what will fit, so someone else may have other ideas in different sizes...

Good luck and welcome to NAM!

The General Excaim UHPs are #1 rated in the Tire Rack Consumer Survey and only $83 for the 215/35-18 size.

215/35-18 is the most common choice for 18" wheels ...

Tires

Thanks for the input. I knew that my price point would limit me. Actually, I'm surprised that you can find things for under $100. Beats the hell out of paying $250/piece for tires on the M3 I had.

Any other suggestions from others would be appreciated. Thanks again!

I have Pirelli Pzero Neros M&S 215/35/18's and really love them in all conditions.
