Painting alloy wheels....

Curious as to whether anyone here has successfully had a set of alloy wheels refinished by a professional painter?

I'm considering get ahold of some used rims and having them stripped, primed, painted & clearcoated. Depending upon the rims I acquire second-hand, the lip would either be white or machine-polished (is that even possible???) and the rest of the rim (from the center outwards to the lip) be painted white, hyper blue, or black.

Pics of Schultze can be seen here:

Opinions and comments are welcomed....

I had mine done by a powder coater. They were originally powder coated silver, and they stripped that off and redid them in Chili Red. They did offer to mask off the lip, and either coat it a different color or polish it, but I wanted them to be a solid color.

It was around 250.00 to do the set, and they look even better than I hoped for.

Good luck !

Did you have any curbage that needed to be repaired? My s-lites are curbed and I was thinking of having them painted but the curbage would need to be repaired.

Is it possibly to powder coat your self?

If you're thinking about refinishing your wheels check out this site:

The guy re-did a set for a Mazda but the principle is the same.

Haven't owned them, but have seen friends' wheels that have been powder coated. They look good and wear well
