Thinking of getting this rim
Would like it in 18x8's with a 225/40/18 tire. Will get coilovers later. So is this a bad idea or should I just conform and go with a 17x7.5 rim!! People with 18's speak up!

and yes i know the pic has 5 lugs but it does come in a 4 lug...

Cool Rims but are you sure you can put in a 225-40-18 because I thought 215-35-18 was the max.
Also can you tell us the price of each rim???????

 

found it on here Custom Wheel Market for 17's $175....for 18's $200 and shipping is free just got to buy tires.
it's under alessio. funny thing is they ask you what car your putting this on. for the 17's the Mini is on the list under BMW but it's not the on 18's....

You've selected a tire size that is 1.2 inches taller in diameter, and 10 mm wider that I'd recomed. I have seen 225 to take major fender lip trimming/shaving.

That is a huge amount of wheel and tire to stuff under a MINI! If the wheel offset is near perfect (around 45mm), you will certainly get some rubbing; maybe serious rubbing.

If the offset is lower than that, and/or you lower the car any with the coilovers, it may not even be driveable. At minimum, I see lots of fender liner trimming and maybe some fender lip rolling to make them work.

Do you know what the offset is for the 18x8? How about the 17x7.5? Also, what does that wheel weigh? You won't be doing yourself any favor if you stuff 50lbs of wheel and tire under each corner.

Offset is 40 but don't know how much they will find out later. So I guess 18's with 225/40 is too big...

i thinking about running 225/40/18 on a 18 X 7.5 rim with a 45mm offset. The car is not lowered and we don't plan to lower it... will they fit? or will they rub?

 

Bringing this post back from the dead yet again and over 3 years later (4 and a half from the original post!) at that. So has anyone done this - 225/40/18's on a MINI (R56 S) that isn't lowered??? No I'm not psycho, just wanna know all my options Did a search but this thread is the only one that came up, leading me to believe that it can't (or least hasn't) been done.

I'm considering 18x7.5" wheels for my MINI (Christmas present, woohoo!!!), and really don't want to get the standard tire size of 215/35/18 because it'll increase the wheel gap while giving quite the punishing ride. Other choice is 215/40/18 which I know will fit, but still figure it's worth asking. Especially since the 225's are $100 cheaper and I really dig the wide tire look.

Diameters (to possibly make answering the question easier and to help others out in the future):

195/55/16 (OEM 16's and what I'm running now): 24.44"
205/45/17 (OEM 17's): 24.26"
205/40/18 (OEM 18's): 24.45"

215/35/18 (tire size recommended for 18's on the MINI): 23.92"
215/40/18 (definitely fits): 24.77"
225/40/18 (questionable): 25.08"

EDIT: Just did a little bit more digging and found out that for the tires I'm looking at, the 225's are almost 3 pounds heavier per tire than the 215's. Not good - 12 extra pounds of unsprung weight to my MINI. Makes my paying for lightweight wheels completely pointless! Also I'm sure it negates any performance advantages I may get from the wider tire. So I'll definitely be going for the 215's. Even so I'm really curious to know if anyone has done this, so please feel free to chime in with any info.
